Pakistan Lodges Protest Over Missile Strike - [ 12:29 p.m. PST, 16 May 2008 ]
Pakistan lodged an official protest with "allied forces" in neighboring Afghanistan following a suspected U.S. missile strike on a Pakistan border village that left 14 people dead.

Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said his country determined this week the strike came from drones from Afghanistan. A house in Damadola village was destroyed in the strike.

Abbas said it wasn't clear whether any militants were killed because local tribesmen sealed off the area and buried the dead.

Some Pakistanis and government officials have condemned the attack as a violation of the country's sovereignty.
